William MacArthur International Affairs Awards Program
The Global Connections Foundation, in cooperation with the University of Central Florida and the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, is pleased to announce the 2008 William MacArthur International Affairs awards competition for Central Florida.

Our objective is to honor individuals who have made impressive contributions to building international awareness, understanding or connections in the greater Orlando area.

Outstanding High School and College/University
The purpose of this awards category, in addition to recognizing outstanding service during the past year, is to promote global learning and broaden understanding of diverse cultures. We will award the winner of this competition a certificate and a scholarship of $500.00 at a public ceremony. The scholarship will be paid directly to the educational institution of the winner.

Outstanding Community Service
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate one or more achievements during the past year that underscore his or her commitment to international affairs relating to Central Florida. Activities might include, but would not be limited to: working with regional organizations; serving in other countries and sharing those experiences; hosting international visitors; internationalizing education; participating in educational and cultural exchange programs; and organizing public discussions.

Scholarship Amount: $500.00
Application Deadline: June 2, 2008
